President Dr. Mohamed extended heartfelt congratulations to India’s President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of India’s 76th Republic Day. In his messages, President Muizzu conveyed warm greetings from the Maldivian government and its citizens, emphasizing the enduring partnership between the two nations. He highlighted that the Maldives-India relationship is founded on mutual trust, respect, and understanding, which have stood the test of time. President Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating closely with the Indian government to strengthen their strategic partnership and address shared challenges on both bilateral and international fronts. He also wished for the continued health and well-being of India’s leadership and the prosperity of its people.

In response, Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Thank you, President Muizzu, for your wishes on India’s Republic Day. I fully share your sentiment regarding the longstanding partnership between India and the Maldives. We are committed to deepening these bonds of friendship and cooperation.”

This exchange underscores the strong diplomatic ties between the Maldives and India, which were officially established on July 26, 1965. The mutual respect and shared commitment to addressing common challenges continue to define the relationship between the two neighboring nations.
