At a press conference held today at Dhiraagu Headquarters, the telecom giant announced that participants can now sign up at dmrr.dhiraagu.com.mv for one of four race categories: Half Marathon, 10K, 5K Open, or the 5K Corporate Team. The event will accommodate up to 4,000 runners, with MVR 280,000 in cash prizes awarded across categories.
“This year’s race introduces a newly certified route to deliver an even more rewarding experience for our runners,” said Mirshan Hassan, Director of Brand and Marketing Communications at Dhiraagu. “We are especially excited about greater participation in the corporate category and welcoming international athletes, as we continue promoting a national culture of fitness, camaraderie, and social responsibility.”
DMRR remains the only international run in the Maldives listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar, with a World Athletics-certified route. Since its inception, it has grown into a flagship event, drawing local communities and global running enthusiasts alike.
Staying true to its roots in corporate social responsibility, DMRR 2025 will again champion the cause of child protection. As part of this initiative, Dhiraagu will contribute MVR 200,000 to the top five endorsed NGOs nominated by runners during registration. Additionally, MVR 100 from each participant’s entry fee, along with proceeds from special bib sales, will be equally distributed among the selected NGOs to fund child-focused programs.
Registrations will remain open until the 4,000-runner limit is reached, with strong interest expected from both domestic and international athletes. With a newly enhanced race route, generous cash prizes, and a meaningful social cause, DMRR 2025 is poised to be the most impactful edition yet.
