Saudia, the national carrier of Saudi Arabia, has celebrated a decade of operations to the Maldives, marking the milestone with a ceremony held at Velana International Airport on March 30, 2026.
The event commemorated 10 years since Saudia launched its scheduled flights to the Maldives on March 30, 2016, highlighting the airline’s continued presence in one of the country’s key tourism markets.
As part of the celebrations, passengers arriving on flight SV838 were welcomed with a special reception at the airport. Departing passengers at the airline’s Terminal 1 operations were also presented with commemorative treats, adding a festive touch to the anniversary.

Over the past decade, Saudia has maintained regular services to the Maldives, contributing to the steady flow of visitors and supporting the growth of the country’s tourism sector. Industry stakeholders note that the airline has played a role in strengthening connectivity between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, further enhancing bilateral ties between the two countries.
Officials say the milestone reflects the airline’s long-term commitment to the Maldivian market, as well as the continued importance of international carriers in supporting the nation’s tourism-driven economy.
