Scheduled Power Interruptions in Hulhumalé Phase 2 Today for Grid Maintenance: STELCO

By Hussain Shinan Published April 15, 2025

The State Electric Company (STELCO) has announced scheduled power outages in Hulhumalé Phase 2 today as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade and maintain the area’s electricity distribution network.

According to STELCO, the power interruptions are necessary to facilitate critical service improvements aimed at enhancing the reliability and stability of the electrical grid.

Power supply to Hiyaa Flat Towers 1 through 8, as well as Kaamil Didi School, will be temporarily suspended between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Meanwhile, Vinares Flat Towers 1 to 10, along with MPL Towers and Salahudheen School, are scheduled to experience outages between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

STELCO assured residents and institutions affected by the cuts that electricity will be restored promptly upon completion of the upgrade work. The company also explained that recent power interruptions in Hulhumalé are due to emergency maintenance being carried out to strengthen the grid.

“These maintenance works are essential for improving long-term service delivery and ensuring uninterrupted electricity for residents,” STELCO stated.

Residents in the affected buildings have been advised to take necessary precautions during the announced timeframes.
