Sri Lanka’s Got Talent: Maldivian Contestant Secures Spot in Second Round

By Ahmed Ashraf Published January 20, 2026

A Maldivian youth contestant has progressed to the second round of “Sri Lanka’s Got Talent”, following a standout audition performance on the internationally recognised Got Talent franchise programme aired in Sri Lanka.

The contestant, 17-year-old Mariyam Misk, who is currently residing in Sri Lanka, performed during the show’s initial audition stage. For her first appearance before the judging panel, Misk sang “Kaisi Paheli Zindagani,” a popular Bollywood track performed by Indian singer Sunidhi Chauhan.

While the judges offered feedback aimed at helping her improve in future performances, Misk secured qualification to the next stage after receiving three out of four judges’ votes.

Misk’s family said she has long shown a strong interest in performing religious hymns (Madhaha) and poetry. They noted that she frequently participates in Madhaha competitions organised by Sosun Villa in Sri Lanka, where she has achieved several placements.

However, her mother clarified that this marks Misk’s first appearance in a mainstream singing competition, and that she had not previously competed in vocal contests at Sosun Villa. She added that Misk’s first stage performance as a singer took place at an event titled “Sosun Ufaa,” organised by Sosun Villa.

Describing her as multi-talented, Misk’s mother also credited the youth coordinators and staff at Sosun Villa for encouraging and supporting her participation in the competition.

Another Maldivian youth also took part in this season of the programme, reflecting an increasing number of Maldivians in Sri Lanka using international platforms to showcase their talent as the Maldivian community there continues to grow.
