By Hussain Shinan Published 3 hours ago

Prominent Maldivian businessman Champa Mohamed Moosa, widely known as Uhchu, has publicly endorsed Moosa Ali Jaleel in the race for Mayor of Malé City, adding further backing to the candidate ahead of the upcoming local elections.

The endorsement was made during a meeting held at Uhchu’s residence, Champagiri, where Jaleel paid a visit earlier today. During the meeting, Uhchu confirmed his support for Jaleel’s candidacy and indicated that he would actively work to help secure votes for him in the election.

Speaking at the gathering, Uhchu described Jaleel as a candidate with a distinguished record of national service, stating that among those contesting the mayoral race, he stands out for his experience and contributions to the country. He highlighted Jaleel’s military background, noting his courage and leadership during his service.

In response, Jaleel expressed appreciation for the endorsement, thanking Uhchu for both the invitation and the support extended to his campaign.

The endorsement comes as campaigning intensifies ahead of the Malé City mayoral election, with candidates seeking support from influential figures and the wider public in what is expected to be a closely contested race.
