Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, together with First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, led the nation in commemorating Victory Day with a solemn flag hoisting and guard mounting ceremony held this morning at the Victory Day Monument in Malé.

The ceremony paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who defended the country during the attempted coup of November 3, 1988. Upon arrival, the President and First Lady were received by Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon.
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Cabinet Ministers, and senior government officials joined the ceremony, underscoring national unity and remembrance. The day’s official observances began with the early morning Fajr prayers held in congregation, marking a moment of national reflection and gratitude.
Victory Day stands as a reminder of the nation’s resilience and the unwavering spirit of the Maldivian people. Under President Muizzu’s leadership, the government continues to reaffirm its commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty, strengthening defence capabilities, and honoring the legacy of those who protected the Republic.
