The Visit Maldives Club (VMC) is set to make waves in the sports tourism sector with the launch of its inaugural global sports fishing tournament, “Burunu Boma.” Scheduled to take place between April and May 2025, this event is poised to attract international fishing enthusiasts and local participants, setting a new benchmark for sports fishing in the region.
Visit Maldives Club, an initiative by the staff of The Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives), aims to bolster the Maldives’ tourism industry by fostering engaging events that unify the tourism community. This strategic move seeks to elevate the Maldives as a premier global destination, showcasing its unique offerings beyond traditional tourism.
Ahmed Saaif, President of Visit Maldives Club, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event, stating, “This is a major event planned by the club for 2025. The tournament will help promote various sports tourism opportunities, such as sports fishing, in the Maldives. The Burunu Boma Sports Fishing Tournament officially launches tomorrow, December 20th, 2025, at 20:00 hrs. This exclusive tournament will emphasize sustainable practices through its “catch and release” method, ensuring the protection of marine ecosystems while allowing participants to engage in friendly competition.
