At the recent Annual General Meeting, Ooredoo Maldives underscored its unwavering commitment to advancing the nation’s digital landscape. CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi highlighted the company’s strategic focus on continuous investment to drive the Maldives’ digital transformation.

Since its inception in 2005, Ooredoo Maldives has been a trailblazer in the nation’s digital evolution. The company has launched initiatives such as the nationwide expansion of 5G networks, cutting-edge fintech solutions, and digital services that connect communities. The introduction of the Ooredoo SuperApp in 2019, integrating telecom services, financial platforms, and e-commerce into a seamless digital ecosystem, exemplifies this commitment. The app quickly became a staple for over 160,000 active monthly users, reflecting the company’s keen understanding of Maldivian consumers’ needs.

In collaboration with strategic partners, Ooredoo Maldives is also enhancing the country’s global connectivity. The landing of the PEACE cable in Kulhudhuffushi City is a significant step in this direction. This submarine cable connects the northern Maldives directly to Singapore and Europe, positioning the Maldives as a hub in the global digital economy. Additionally, the launch of a new tier-3 data center in Kulhudhuffushi complements the existing facility in Hulhumale’, offering unparalleled security and support for IT operations. These infrastructure advancements are not just about faster internet; they’re about enabling businesses—from government to hospitality—in their digital transitions.

Through these strategic initiatives and technological advancements, Ooredoo Maldives remains steadfast in its mission to foster a digitally inclusive society, ensuring that Maldivians have access to world-class digital experiences and opportunities.
