President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to placing Maldivian youth at the heart of national decision-making, describing their involvement as essential for sustainable and meaningful development across all sectors.
Last night speaking during the “Youth Coffee with President” session, the President stressed that long-term national progress cannot be achieved without systematically incorporating youth perspectives into policy formulation and governance structures. He noted that his government is already advancing several major initiatives aimed at strengthening youth development nationwide.
President Muizzu acknowledged that previous generations of young Maldivians were often excluded from meaningful opportunities and decision-making spaces. He said his administration is determined to correct this imbalance by ensuring youth participation at every level of governance, or by creating clear pathways for such engagement.
Highlighting proposals raised during discussions, the President described the concept of a Youth Parliament as a constructive and forward-looking idea. He said young people from diverse fields and from every atoll should be given the opportunity to participate, adding that he would seriously explore avenues for implementing such a platform.
Following the Youth Conference, young participants presented their concerns and aspirations through structured presentations, offering candid insights into the challenges they face. During the “Youth Conference with President” session, the President engaged directly with these issues, outlining ongoing efforts to address many of the priorities raised and reaffirming his personal commitment to maintaining an open, consultative approach with the nation’s youth.
The engagement forms part of the administration’s broader strategy to empower young Maldivians as active partners in shaping the country’s future, reinforcing the President’s message that inclusive governance is key to lasting national development.
