According to reports by local media outlet Mihaaru, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has issued a stern warning to CEOs and Managing Directors of state-owned enterprises, declaring that he will take swift action if any government official is found engaging in activities that enable corruption. As controversy arises over the distribution of plots to individuals not listed under the Binveriya Scheme, the President communicated via a WhatsApp group for these CEOs and Managing Directors, emphasizing his commitment to address any violations against regulations that may promote corruption or injustice.
The President stated unequivocally, “Should anyone contravene regulations or principles, engage in corrupt practices, provide opportunities for corruption, or facilitate unjust actions for any individual, and if I become aware of such conduct, I will take necessary measures.” He further reinforced his stance by asserting, “I will not tolerate corruption. I will enforce zero tolerance in its fullest sense.”
The message’s authenticity was confirmed to Mihaaru by a Managing Director included in the group. Meanwhile, amidst ongoing investigations by the police and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) concerning the land plot controversy, HDC’s Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed has been suspended. Additionally, all board members have been suspended today except for Ahmed Nasif (Didi), who was recently appointed as Chairman.
