By Ahmed Ashraf Published August 16, 2025

Bank of Maldives (BML) has introduced a special promotion to encourage financial literacy among young customers, offering 100 lucky winners the chance to win MVR 1,000 each by applying for the bank’s Student Debit Card.

The promotion, which runs from 14 August to 30 September 2025, is open to all new Student Card applicants.

The BML Student Card is designed for children aged seven and above, giving them an early start in managing money responsibly. With parental oversight, the card allows children to experience independent spending while learning essential financial habits. Parents can conveniently transfer funds, monitor transactions, and manage card settings through the BML Mobile Banking App.

Features and Benefits

Issued as a Visa Debit Card, the Student Card comes with zero fees and can be used for both domestic and international transactions. Unique to the Maldivian banking sector, it offers an annual rebate of 0.5% on total spending, automatically credited to the child’s savings account at year-end.

In addition, cardholders enjoy discounts of up to 10% at selected shops, bookstores, and restaurants when paying via BML Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals.

Commitment to Innovation

As the Maldives’ leading financial institution, BML continues to pioneer products that promote financial inclusion and innovation. The Student Card not only supports parents in teaching children responsible money management but also fosters a savings mindset from an early age.

By aligning practical banking tools with incentives such as rebates and promotions, the bank reinforces its commitment to empowering the next generation of Maldivians with smart financial solutions.
