On March 13, the Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC)/Visit Maldives announced a three-and-a-half-year partnership with LFC, designating the Maldives as the club’s ‘Official Tourist Destination Partner’. This collaboration is projected to attract over 100,000 additional tourists to the Maldives in 2025, potentially generating an estimated $100 million in tourism revenue.

To amplify this initiative, Visit Maldives launched an extensive outdoor campaign across the UK on March 27. The campaign features over 100 London taxis adorned with captivating imagery of the Maldives, complemented by advertisements on buses, the London Underground, major airports, and business class lounges. This strategic marketing effort is expected to reach approximately 76 million individuals, reinforcing the Maldives’ status as a premier luxury travel destination.

During his visit, President Muizzu toured LFC’s state-of-the-art AXA Training Centre, gaining insights into elite football training methodologies. This experience aims to inform strategies for enhancing football development in the Maldives, providing aspiring athletes with world-class opportunities.

Accompanying the President are key officials, including Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Sports, Fitness, and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, and MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree. Their collective efforts underscore the Maldives’ dedication to innovative tourism promotion and international collaboration.

President Muizzu’s proactive engagement with Liverpool FC exemplifies the Maldives’ commitment to expanding its global footprint, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the nation’s appeal as a top-tier travel destination.
