Electricity Back to Normal as STELCO Finishes Maintenance Ahead of Schedule

By Ahmed Ashraf Published August 23, 2025

State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has announced that major maintenance work at the Hulhumalé power plant has been completed ahead of schedule, with all engines now operational and connected to the grid.

As a result, electricity services in both Malé and Hulhumalé have returned to normal. The company confirmed that load shedding measures, which temporarily affected some areas during the morning, have been discontinued, and power has been restored across the entire capital region.

STELCO expressed gratitude to customers for their patience and cooperation during the planned maintenance period, while also apologizing for any inconvenience caused. The utility provider emphasized that the proactive works were carried out to strengthen system reliability and prevent potential disruptions in future supply.
