She stressed that staying informed on cutting-edge research, diagnostic methods, and treatment options is vital. Highlighting the resilience of women silently battling chronic pain while juggling family and work responsibilities, the First Lady underscored the importance of early detection, timely care, and community awareness.
Acknowledging the stigma surrounding menstrual health and the frequent misdiagnosis of endometriosis, she called on doctors and nurses to listen attentively and act decisively.
In her remarks, the First Lady applauded the Government’s landmark decision to expand Aasandha coverage to include treatment for endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), describing it as a breakthrough for equitable access to healthcare.
She urged institutions to translate insights from the workshop into concrete measures, including the development of a national action plan and the promotion of menstrual health education in schools. Commending the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Maldives (SOGM), she praised their role in connecting specialists and strengthening inclusive healthcare delivery nationwide.
Concluding her address, the First Lady delivered a firm call to action: “This workshop must not end as a discussion—it must ignite lasting change. Together, we must break the silence, stand with women, and transform healthcare for the better.”
With her call echoing through Dharumavantha Hospital, the First Lady reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring no Maldivian woman is left behind in the fight against endometriosis.
