By Ahmed Ashraf Published 21 hours ago

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has personally reached out to the Maldives national football team, commending their strong start at the South Asian Super Cup 2025 in Sri Lanka and rallying them to pursue greater victories for the nation.

In a congratulatory telephone call this morning, the President spoke with Head Coach Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan), applauding the team’s spirited performance in their latest match. He urged the players to keep their determination and unity, reminding them that their effort is not only about winning matches but about carrying the pride of the Maldivian people onto the international stage.

Coach Shiyaz described the President’s message as a timely boost to morale, adding that the players are now more determined than ever to secure the tournament trophy. “The President’s encouragement is a source of joy and inspiration for the entire squad. We are committed to giving our all for the country,” he affirmed.

The administration has already pledged to restore the glory days of Maldivian football, with new stadiums, training grounds, and facilities under development in Malé and across the atolls. This renewed commitment underscores the government’s vision to uplift youth, foster talent, and showcase Maldivian excellence on the global sporting stage.

With the President’s backing and a renewed spirit of national unity, the Red Snappers step into the next rounds of the Super Cup carrying the hopes of a nation eager to see its champions rise again.
