Bank of Maldives (BML) has further strengthened its nationwide banking presence with the launch of new Self-Service Banking ATM centers in Kondey and Kanduhulhudhoo. The development marks a major milestone, as Gaafu Alifu Atoll has now become the 10th atoll in the Maldives where all inhabited islands are equipped with ATM services.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, along with senior officials from the bank.
The new centers provide 24-hour access to essential services including cash withdrawals, deposits, and transfers for individuals and businesses alike. According to BML, this expansion falls under its “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM” initiative, which aims to extend reliable and convenient banking access to every inhabited island across the country.
“Our investment in these new ATM centers reflects our unwavering commitment to bringing banking closer to our customers” said BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef. “The people of Gaafu Alifu Atoll will no longer have to travel to another island for their banking needs”.
BML, the country’s largest financial institution, currently operates 42 branches across all 20 atolls, along with 158 Self-Service Banking Centres, 217 ATMs, comprehensive Agent Banking services, and advanced digital platforms.
The expansion underscores the bank’s role as a key driver of financial inclusion in the Maldives, ensuring island communities can benefit from modern banking without geographic barriers.
