The Maldives has welcomed the UN General Assembly’s endorsement of the New York Declaration on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, calling it a powerful step toward peace and justice.

In a statement posted on X (Formerly Twitter), President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said the Maldives fully supports the declaration and its call for collective international action to advance accountability and protect the rights of the Palestinian people. He stressed that such resolutions strengthen global consensus and keep the drive for a just settlement firmly on the international agenda.
Reiterating the country’s unwavering position, the President affirmed that the Maldives stands steadfast for an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
With the UN’s latest vote in New York, Maldivians once again stand on the side of justice—adding our voice, our values, and our moral authority to the global push for a lasting, rules-based peace in Palestine.
