The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced the launch of the Tamweel Values & Vision Art Showcase, a nationwide competition inviting school students to use art as a way of imagining the future of finance.
The contest, open to students from grades 5 to 9 across the Maldives, encourages participants to express how ethical values, inclusivity, and sustainable practices can shape a financial system that benefits all. Students can submit entries in both digital and non-digital formats, ranging from paintings and drawings to digital illustrations.
The competition carries the theme “Finance Through the Eyes of Our Future” and features eight sub-themes, including “Money with a Purpose,” “My Dream of a Fair Economy,” and “A Just Future Through Inclusive and Sustainable Finance.” Through these topics, MMA hopes to inspire young artists to explore how finance can move beyond numbers and transactions, reflecting fairness, responsibility, and community values.
Prizes of up to MVR 3,000 will be awarded to winners, along with certificates of recognition. A special award will also be presented for the best artwork reflecting Islamic finance principles. Selected pieces will be featured at MMA events, exhibitions, and official publications, giving students a platform to showcase their work to a wider audience.
“This initiative blends creativity with social awareness, empowering students to see finance not just as a technical field, but as a powerful tool for building a fairer, more resilient world,” MMA said in a statement.
Submissions are open until October 9, 2025, with both digital and physical entries accepted. Detailed guidelines, including format requirements and submission procedures, are available on MMA’s official website.
By launching the Tamweel Values & Vision Art Showcase, the central bank aims to engage the younger generation in meaningful conversations about the future of finance, while promoting values of fairness, integrity, and responsibility at an early age.
