Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan has delivered a scathing attack on opposition plans to stage a protest on 3rd October, accusing former leaders of wasting 15 years in power without addressing corruption and good governance.
In a strongly worded statement on X, Ihusaan reaffirmed that the current administration is already taking decisive measures to prevent corruption and enforce the law against those engaged in malpractice. “The best way to combat corruption is through prevention and accountability. We are already doing that work” the Minister declared.
Targeting the opposition’s call to the streets, Ihusaan questioned the sincerity of figures like Mohamed Nasheed, who today urged people to protest against the government. “We must ask what actions were taken by other governments in the past 15 years to prevent corruption. They failed. We will answer for our actions” Ihusaan stressed.
By framing the upcoming protest as a politically motivated ploy, the Minister positioned himself as a key defender of stability and order. He warned the public against being misled by leaders who squandered their time in office, while emphasizing that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration is delivering real results through transparency, infrastructure development, and institutional reform.
With his blunt remarks, Ihusaan has emerged as one of the government’s strongest voices against the opposition, signaling zero tolerance for corruption and reaffirming that this administration will not be distracted from its development agenda.
