At a special ceremony held today at the Maldives National Defence Force’s Composite Training Centre in Lh. Maafilaafushi, President Muizzu launched the initiative by handing over the official National Service flag. Addressing the ceremony, President Muizzu declared that true national progress cannot be measured by infrastructure projects alone, but by the strength, values, and resilience of the younger generation. He emphasized that developing proud, skilled, and religiously devoted youth is essential to the nation’s future.

“The success of our country depends on producing young men and women who are well-mannered, patriotic, and guided by Islamic principles. This program will empower our youth to lead with dignity and responsibility” President Muizzu said.

Comprehensive Training for Nation-Building

The National Service Initial Training, which began today, is a three-month program designed to instill discipline, civic responsibility, and national pride. Trainees will undergo sessions on Maldivian identity, religious education, leadership, and language proficiency, alongside rigorous physical fitness and ceremonial drill training.

Practical skills such as first aid, firefighting, and self-defense are also part of the curriculum, equipping participants with life-saving abilities and resilience to face modern challenges.

A Vision for the Future

The mission of the Maldivian National Service is to produce citizens who value their identity, uphold responsibility, and remain healthy in body, spirit, and mind. President Muizzu urged participants to seize this opportunity to brighten their futures and contribute meaningfully to national prosperity.

With this landmark launch, the administration has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment, national unity, and preserving the values that define Maldivian society.
