President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters, describing the act as “unacceptable intimidation” against unarmed civilian vessels carrying essential humanitarian aid to Gaza.
In a social media statement today, the President stressed that targeting humanitarian convoys delivering relief to a population deprived of freedom and basic necessities constitutes a grave violation of international law and a direct affront to human dignity.
Highlighting Israel’s repeated disregard for mercy, compassion, and human rights, Muizzu said such actions have further isolated Israel from the rest of the international community. He urged world powers to take “decisive action” against what he described as Israel’s gross and repeated violations of international law, warning that such conduct goes far beyond the shared moral compass of humanity.
Reaffirming the Maldives’ longstanding position, President Muizzu declared the nation’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for human rights, justice, peace, and security.
“The Maldives will always stand shoulder to shoulder with Palestine” he emphasized, calling on the global community to respond with unity and resolve in the face of repeated aggression.
