By Ahmed Ashraf Published October 7, 2025

Maldives Police have arrested four individuals — including a well-known television presenter and sports commentator — on suspicion of child exploitation and drug possession during a targeted operation on the morning of October 6, 2025.

According to police, the suspects are Ali Ashraf (35) of M. Ethuma, Malé City; Luhaan Saeed (41) of Paris, GDh. Vaadhoo; Nafiu Rasheed (39) of Silver Star, V. Rakeedhoo; and Ibrahim Shinaan Ahmed (33) of H. Finikuri, Malé City.

The arrests were made during a raid on an apartment in Henveiru, where officers found a packet suspected to contain narcotics. Preliminary urine tests of the suspects also tested positive for drug use, police said.

The victims identified in the case include two 17-year-old girls and two boys aged 16 and 17, who were allegedly exploited by the accused.

Following their arrest, the four suspects were presented before the Criminal Court, which ordered them to be held in custody for three days pending further investigation.

Police stated that the investigation remains ongoing, with efforts focused on uncovering the full scope of the exploitation and potential criminal connections. The case has drawn widespread public attention given the involvement of a prominent media personality and the grave nature of the offenses alleged.
