President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has commenced a three-day official visit to Laamu Atoll, continuing his nationwide tour to engage directly with island councils and local communities.
According to the President’s Office, the visit will cover all 11 inhabited islands of the atoll — Isdhoo, Kalaidhoo, Dhanbidhoo, Maabaidhoo, Mundoo, Gan, Maavah, Fonadhoo, Maamendhoo, Hithadhoo, and Kunahandhoo. The President began his trip today with a visit to Maavah in the morning, followed by stops at Hithadhoo, Kunahandhoo, and Fonadhoo later in the day.
A major community gathering is scheduled for tonight in Fonadhoo — the constituency represented by Speaker of Parliament and Fonadhoo MP Abdul Raheem Abdullah.
During his visits, President Muizzu is set to meet with island councils and Women’s Development Committees to discuss key local issues, infrastructure needs, and ongoing development priorities. He will also meet residents across the islands to hear their concerns firsthand and review progress on national and local projects.
The President’s Office emphasized that this trip is part of Dr. Muizzu’s broader commitment to visiting every atoll in the Maldives — a hands-on approach to ensure that communities in all regions are directly engaged in the government’s development agenda.
Last week, President Muizzu completed visits to all inhabited islands of Shaviyani Atoll, underscoring his administration’s pledge to deliver equitable development and strengthen communication between the central government and local councils.
This latest tour of Laamu Atoll reflects the President’s continued focus on inclusive governance, regional empowerment, and the advancement of his “Nation of Prosperity” vision — ensuring that no island is left behind in the Maldives’ development journey.
