President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced the commencement of one of the largest nationwide development drives in Maldivian history, with 216 new projects now officially signed and ready to begin across 123 islands.
Speaking at a special ceremony to hand over development contracts to private companies, President Muizzu highlighted that this day marks a historic milestone — the largest number of companies ever entrusted simultaneously with national development work.

“For the first time, 153 Maldivian companies have been awarded all these projects in a single day. This is a proud moment for our local construction sector,” the President said, expressing his gratitude and confidence in the country’s private enterprises.
He assured that every government institution will extend full cooperation to ensure that all projects are completed efficiently and on schedule. “The entire government will work hand-in-hand with contractors to achieve tangible progress for our people,” he affirmed.

President Muizzu also emphasized that the newly signed projects span key national sectors — including education, healthcare, security infrastructure, and higher education — forming what he described as a “comprehensive development package” designed to uplift communities across the nation.
“This is not just about buildings or roads — it’s about empowering our citizens and ensuring development reaches every corner of the Maldives,” the President added.
The signing of 216 projects entirely with Maldivian private companies underscores President Muizzu’s policy of economic self-reliance and inclusive growth, ensuring that prosperity is generated and retained within the country’s borders.
