President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced tonight that all expatriates who do not submit their biometric information by the end of tomorrow will be deported without delay. The announcement was delivered during a major rally at Artificial Beach marking two years of his administration, where the President described the expatriate population challenge as one of the three most pressing issues facing the Maldives.

The President said the problem had expanded under every previous government, and that his administration launched Operation Kurangi in July last year to establish proper biometric data for all expatriates living in the country. Since the operation began, biometric information has been collected from 191,723 expatriates.
He stated that tomorrow is the final deadline for registration. From the day after tomorrow, any expatriate found without biometric records will be deported immediately. The President urged citizens to report such individuals directly to the police and immigration authorities.

According to the President, 9,021 expatriates have already been deported since he assumed office. He told the crowd that strict enforcement is necessary to protect national security, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that the country has accurate population records.
The rally continued with thousands in attendance as the President outlined key measures that will shape the next phase of his administration’s governance and national reform agenda.
