Sun Siyam Group has stepped forward as one of the most prominent Maldivian contributors to Sri Lanka’s national relief effort, pledging an extraordinary USD 200,000 to help the country weather its current crisis. In a powerful display of regional solidarity, Founder Ahmed Siyam Mohamed personally handed over USD 75,000 to Sri Lankan High Commissioner Mohamed Rizvi Hassen on Sunday, affirming that the remaining assistance will follow shortly.
The gesture positions Siyam as a leading humanitarian figure at a critical moment for Sri Lanka. During the meeting, both sides reflected on the deep friendship shaping Maldives Sri Lanka relations. Siyam spoke with conviction about the unwavering support Sri Lankans have offered Maldivians for generations, from classrooms to commerce, and emphasized that Sri Lanka has always stood by the Maldives in times of need.
He noted that extending a helping hand is not only rooted in long standing friendship but is also a moral and religious obligation for Maldivians. Siyam stressed that safeguarding neighbors strengthens the region’s collective resilience, a principle he said guides Sun Siyam Group’s charitable actions.
Starting Monday, Sun Siyam Group will activate fundraising initiatives across all its companies and award winning resorts, expanding its role from donor to nationwide mobilizer. In addition, Siyam delivered a heartfelt letter to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, offering reassurance and solidarity directly from the Maldives business community.

High Commissioner Rizvi described Siyam’s contribution as a remarkable act of generosity. He said the donation reflects the brotherly bond between the two nations and called it a meaningful gesture that will bring comfort to thousands of Sri Lankans facing hardship.
Siyam also signed the official guest book, symbolizing the importance of the moment.
Sun Siyam’s presence in Sri Lanka is anchored by Sun Siyam Pasikuda, a celebrated five star luxury resort that has earned TripAdvisor’s Travelers Choice Best of the Best award. Its success stands as a reminder of Siyam’s longstanding commitment to strengthening regional ties.
