“We Heard You and We Are Acting,” President Muizzu Says at Hulhumalé Ward Meeting

By Ahmed Ashraf Published December 21, 2025

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to responsive, people centric governance as he met residents of Hulhumalé Phase 1 tonight, continuing a citywide series of direct community engagements across the Malé region.

Speaking during the meeting, President Muizzu said concrete efforts were already underway to address a wide range of issues raised by the public, noting that many concerns submitted through letters, correspondence, and open microphone sessions were now progressing through relevant stages of resolution.

He stressed that the matters raised span both individual grievances and broader urban challenges affecting Malé and Hulhumalé, and emphasized that a structured, systematic approach was being maintained to ensure accountability and follow through.

“These issues are being addressed step by step, whether they relate to personal concerns or matters impacting the wider community. I remain personally committed to this process,” the President said.

The Hulhumalé Phase 1 meeting follows a series of similar engagements held with residents of Villimalé, Maafannu, Machchangolhi, Henveiru, and Hulhumalé Phase 2, reflecting the administration’s strategy of taking governance directly to neighborhoods rather than relying solely on institutional channels.

During the sessions, residents were given the opportunity to speak openly, raise pressing concerns, and hand over written submissions directly to the President, a format that has drawn strong participation and public attention.

The President’s Office has described the ward level meetings as a core pillar of President Muizzu’s governance approach, aimed at strengthening trust, improving service delivery, and ensuring that policy decisions are grounded in the lived realities of citizens across the capital region.
