President Muizzu’s Rasmale’ Pledge Takes Shape as Reclamation Hits 41 Hectares

Rasmale’s landmark land reclamation project has reached a significant milestone, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to delivering long-term national development under President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s leadership.

According to Maldives Airports Company Limited, a total of 41 hectares has already been reclaimed, marking 30 percent overall progress. Reclamation works at Rasmale’ Site A officially commenced on 1 December 2025 and are progressing at pace.

The project is being executed using Cristóbal Colón, one of the world’s largest trailer suction hopper dredgers, boasting a capacity of 46,000 cubic metres. The vessel is operated by , a globally respected marine engineering firm known for delivering complex reclamation projects to the highest technical standards.

This rapid progress reflects a clear pledge made by to accelerate strategic infrastructure projects that expand national capacity, strengthen economic resilience, and support future-focused urban and aviation development.

Rasmale’ is expected to play a vital role in easing land constraints, enabling planned growth, and supporting key national priorities. The use of world-class equipment and experienced international operators underscores the administration’s emphasis on quality, efficiency, and timely delivery.

As reclamation continues, the project stands as a visible symbol of President Muizzu’s commitment to turning policy promises into measurable progress on the ground, positioning the Maldives for the next phase of sustainable development.
