President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated Shaheed Ali School, the first educational institution developed and opened under the current administration, signalling a major step forward in the government’s commitment to modern, accessible education.

Located in Hulhumalé Phase 2, the newly opened school has been built to contemporary architectural and academic standards, addressing the growing demand for quality schooling in one of the country’s fastest-expanding residential zones.
A special inauguration ceremony was held at the school premises today, attended by the Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeq. The event featured the unveiling of the official school logo and the presentation of a commemorative gift to the President, formally marking the commencement of the school’s operations.

The construction of Shaheed Ali School was initiated by President Muizzu in December 2023 and entrusted to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction. Completed within a two-year timeframe, the project stands as a clear example of timely delivery under the administration’s infrastructure agenda, with teaching activities already underway.
According to the Ministry of Education, the school has an initial capacity to accommodate 1,500 students, with the flexibility to serve up to 2,500 students through a two-session system. The institution provides education from Grade 1 to Grade 10 and comprises 54 classrooms, each designed to accommodate 32 students comfortably.
The campus is equipped with a 400-seat auditorium, a library, a computer laboratory, three fully fitted science laboratories, an indoor hall, a multipurpose hall, a turf ground, and dedicated spaces for indoor and outdoor sports, reflecting a holistic approach to student development.
Shaheed Ali School is the second permanent school established in Hulhumalé Phase 2, following Salahuddin School. Its inauguration reinforces the government’s broader vision to expand national education infrastructure, reduce classroom congestion, and ensure that rapidly developing urban communities are supported with world-class public services.
