By Ahmed Ashraf Published 9 hours ago

Bank of Maldives has officially opened a newly built branch in Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, marking another step in the Bank’s nationwide expansion to improve access to modern financial services across the atolls.

The branch was inaugurated on Friday during a ceremony attended by Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer, alongside BML’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef and senior bank officials.

The new facility replaces the previous Kudahuvadhoo branch and has been designed to meet rising customer demand from the island and surrounding communities. According to the Bank, the upgraded premises will allow for faster service delivery while offering a more convenient banking experience for individuals and businesses in the region.

Speaking at the inauguration, Shareef said the new branch reflects BML’s continued investment in regional infrastructure and its shift toward modern, efficient banking models. He noted that the Kudahuvadhoo branch will operate as a paperless facility, with services delivered primarily through digital platforms to enhance speed, efficiency, and customer convenience.

BML also confirmed plans to further expand its physical footprint in 2026, with 12 new branches scheduled to open across the country. The expansion is part of the Bank’s broader strategy to ensure equitable access to financial services nationwide.

Currently, Bank of Maldives operates 42 branches across all 20 atolls, supported by a network of 267 ATMs and a range of advanced digital banking services. The Bank says it remains focused on supporting community development and economic activity through innovation and improved service access.
