Redraw Begins for Giraavaru Falhu Land Plots After Plan Revision

By Hussain Shinan Published 8 hours ago

A new draw to reassign land plots in Giraavaru Falhu began on Saturday following revisions to the island’s land use plan by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.

The redraw was initiated after the Ministry identified a shortfall of 610 plots under the original allocation framework. With the revised plan now in effect, authorities say a total of 4,072 plots will be issued under the updated scheme.

According to the Ministry, the new layout includes 2,603 plots measuring 1,250 square feet, 1,214 plots of 1,650 square feet, 254 plots of 2,050 square feet, and one plot measuring 2,450 square feet.

Due to limited seating at the Social Center Hall, where the draw is being conducted, only one recipient per plot is allowed inside the venue. However, all recipients will receive their newly assigned plot numbers via SMS notification immediately after the draw, the Ministry said.

Officials added that information regarding the signing of land transfer agreements and the handover of registry documents will be announced after the completion of the allocation process.

Meanwhile, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu confirmed on Friday that land reclamation works at Giraavaru Falhu have officially begun, marking another step in the broader development of the area.

Authorities say the redraw is intended to correct the earlier allocation gap while ensuring transparency in the distribution process.
