State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has confirmed that all electrical works have been completed to supply power to the 4,000 housing units developed by Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) in Hulhumalé Phase II.
In a statement issued on Thursday, STELCO said the work to provide electricity to the apartments has now been fully finalised, with some residents already having moved into the newly built flats.
According to the utility provider, the completed works include laying of power cables to the main panels, establishing connections, and testing the entire system, along with all other technical requirements needed to supply electricity from the panels to individual apartments.
The confirmation comes after water and sewerage services were installed earlier this month, meaning that all essential utility connections are now in place at the housing complex.
President Mohamed Muizzu has previously said that the handover of keys for all flats is expected to be completed by the start of the new academic year, which begins on 27 January.
The completion of electricity connections marks another milestone in the rollout of the large-scale housing project, as residents prepare to fully settle into the new homes in Hulhumalé Phase II.
