President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, as leader of the People’s National Congress (PNC), actively joined the party’s door-to-door outreach in Male’ today, reinforcing the ruling party’s grassroots push ahead of the 4 April 2026 local council and Women’s Development Committee elections.

The campaign activity involved personal visits to households and conversations with residents in the Machangolhi Central area, with the President joined by senior party figures including Moosa Ali Jaleel, the PNC’s mayoral candidate for Male’ City, and Aishath Alaika Adnan, the party’s nominee for Women’s Development Committee President. Cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament and other PNC leaders took part in engaging voters directly.

This outreach follows a broader strategy by the PNC combining ground-level canvassing with the establishment of campaign offices across constituencies to build support for its slate of candidates. Party organisers say the initiative is central to mobilising backing for local leadership that can work closely with the government on community development priorities.

Government and party insiders have emphasised the importance of council members who can partner with the current administration to ensure smoother implementation of projects and responsive local governance. The PNC continues to project confidence in achieving a substantial victory in the upcoming polls, with party leadership previously indicating it expects a strong showing across council races nationwide.
