The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has expressed deep concern over the safety and well being of Maldivian students studying in countries affected by the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
In a press release, the Ministry confirmed that the Government is closely monitoring developments and is prepared to take all necessary measures to ensure the protection and welfare of students abroad.
Officials stated that continuous communication is being maintained with relevant authorities, diplomatic missions and educational institutions to provide timely assistance and support where required. The Ministry emphasised that safeguarding students remains its highest priority during this period of uncertainty.
The statement comes as President Dr Mohamed Muizzu formed a special high level ministerial task force last night to address and mitigate the broader impacts of the Middle East conflict on Maldivian citizens. The move signals a coordinated national response aimed at strengthening preparedness, ensuring rapid intervention where necessary and protecting Maldivians both at home and overseas.
