The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has intensified monitoring of airspace developments in the Middle East as regional conflicts reshape aviation routes and safety protocols.
In a press release issued, the Ministry confirmed it is closely assessing changes to airspace accessibility and related safety measures, acknowledging the potential impact on global civil aviation and tourism.
Air connectivity between the Middle East and the Maldives remains a critical pillar of the national economy. Ministry said they are working in close coordination with major airlines operating to the Maldives, alongside national and international aviation bodies, to minimise disruptions for inbound tourists, Maldivians travelling abroad and residents within the country.
While some Middle Eastern carriers have adjusted schedules, the Ministry noted that several other airline services remain unaffected. To cushion potential impacts, discussions are underway with additional airlines from Southeast Asia and India to explore increasing flight frequencies to the Maldives.
Reaffirming confidence in the destination, the Ministry stressed that Maldives continues to welcome travellers from around the world and will uphold the highest standards of aviation safety and hospitality.
