The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that this year’s Eid al-Fitr congregational prayers in the Greater Malé region will be conducted at four designated open venues to accommodate large gatherings.
According to information released by the ministry, the main Eid prayer locations will include Maafannu Stadium in Malé, the Vilimalé Football Grounds, the Synthetic Track in Hulhumalé Phase 1, and an open area in Hulhumalé Phase 2 near Masjid Hassan Adam, bordered by Nirolhu Magu, Heenaamaa Hin’gun, Feyrugas Magu, and Dhun’burigas Magu.
The prayers are scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. on Eid morning, with authorities encouraging the public to arrive early to ensure smooth arrangements.
In addition to these large venues, the ministry said Eid prayers will also be conducted in 24 mosques across the Malé area, providing multiple options for worshippers.
The decision to organize prayers across several open locations is aimed at accommodating the large number of attendees expected for Eid, one of the most significant religious celebrations in the Islamic calendar.
Based on the official calendar, Eid al-Fitr is expected to fall on Friday, March 20, subject to confirmation through the sighting of the new moon.
Authorities have urged the public to follow guidance issued for each venue to ensure an orderly and safe prayer gathering across the capital region.
