Senior officials from State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) visited K. Huraa today to assess operations at key utility facilities, following the company’s recent takeover of electricity, water, and sewerage services on the island.
The delegation inspected the island’s powerhouse and water production plant, reviewing ongoing operations as part of efforts to ensure a smooth transition and identify areas for improvement.
During the visit, a ceremony was held at the powerhouse to mark the company’s presence on the island, with the STELCO flag raised by Deputy Managing Director Dr. Ali Azuwar, who is currently overseeing operations.

Focus on Improving Services
STELCO’s senior management also met with employees stationed in Huraa, engaging in discussions on operational challenges and potential improvements to service delivery.
Officials said the visit was aimed at strengthening coordination with staff and enhancing the quality, reliability, and sustainability of utility services provided to residents.
Background to Transition
STELCO officially assumed responsibility for managing electricity, water, and sewerage services in Huraa earlier this week, taking over operations from Fenaka Corporation.
The transition included the integration of staff previously working under Fenaka into STELCO’s operations on the island.
Authorities say the management visit forms part of ongoing efforts to monitor service performance and ensure that improvements are implemented following the change in operations.
