President Dr Mohamed Muizzu was accorded a ceremonial state welcome in Colombo on Monday, as part of his ongoing state visit to Sri Lanka.
The official ceremony, held at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka, marked a key highlight of the visit. President Muizzu, who arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday, is undertaking his first official trip to the country since assuming office in 2023.

During the visit, President Muizzu is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Disanayaka, focusing on strengthening longstanding ties and expanding cooperation between the two countries.
Officials have indicated that six Memoranda of Understanding are expected to be signed, aimed at enhancing collaboration across key sectors.
The visit will continue until May 6, with authorities in Colombo implementing a special traffic plan during the period to facilitate official movements and ensure security.
