MTCC advances Segments 2, 3 and 4 of Malé road project with 278m sheet piling

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 2 hours ago

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed 278 metres of sheet pile installation under Segments 2, 3 and 4 of the Malé Northside Boduthakurufaanu Magu Road Project, marking steady progress in the ongoing coastal redevelopment.

According to updates from MTCC, construction activities across these segments are advancing simultaneously, with multiple infrastructure works currently underway. These include sewer system upgrades, installation of water and wastewater main pipelines, construction of stormwater catchpits and stormwater wells, as well as anchor block and quay wall panel installations.

In Segment 5, street lighting installation has already been completed, while remaining sidewalk construction along the quay wall is scheduled to be finalized within the week.

The Boduthakurufaanu Magu project forms a key part of the broader effort to modernize Malé’s northern waterfront, aimed at improving road capacity, drainage systems and overall urban infrastructure in one of the capital’s busiest corridors.

Once completed, the upgraded road network is expected to enhance traffic flow and resilience against flooding, while supporting long term urban development in line with the government’s infrastructure priorities.
