MACL Issues Travel Advisory Ahead of Eid Rush

By Hussain Shinan Published 5 hours ago

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has issued a passenger advisory ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha holidays, warning of significantly increased passenger traffic at Velana International Airport (VIA).

The airport operator urged all departing passengers to arrive at the airport well in advance of their scheduled departure times to avoid delays and ensure a smooth travel experience during the peak holiday period.

According to MACL, passenger movement is expected to increase sharply as large numbers of Maldivians travel to islands for the Eid holidays while international tourist arrivals also remain high.

In its advisory, the company requested travelers to carefully follow the reporting times and operational instructions issued by their respective airlines from now until Saturday, May 31.

MACL stated that additional operational teams will be deployed across airport terminals to assist passengers and manage congestion during the busy travel period.

The company said the measures are aimed at maintaining smooth airport operations and minimizing inconvenience to travelers during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.

The Eid al-Adha holiday period traditionally sees a major rise in domestic and international travel, placing heavy pressure on both the domestic and international terminals at VIA.

MACL also encouraged passengers to check their flight statuses online and coordinate closely with their airlines before heading to the airport.

The company thanked passengers for their cooperation and wished all travelers a safe and pleasant journey during the holiday season.
