Dhiraagu has introduced a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at empowering employees to take a leading role in creating positive change within communities across the Maldives.
The programme, titled “Pitch for Purpose,” was officially launched during a special event for employees and is designed to give staff members the opportunity to develop and propose community-focused projects aligned with causes they are passionate about.
According to Dhiraagu, the initiative provides a structured platform for employees to work together in teams, identify community needs, develop solutions and present project proposals for organizational support and implementation.
The telecommunications provider described the programme as the first employee-driven CSR initiative of its kind within the company, allowing staff to play an active role throughout the entire process—from conceptualizing ideas to participating in community engagement activities on the ground.
The launch builds on Dhiraagu’s long-standing culture of volunteerism and social responsibility. Over the years, employees have contributed to numerous community initiatives, including environmental programmes, mentoring activities, educational workshops and skills development projects conducted across the country.
Company officials said the new initiative is intended to deepen employee involvement in social impact efforts while encouraging collaboration and innovation beyond their everyday professional responsibilities.

Under the programme, up to three projects selected through the pitching process will receive organizational backing and resources to enable implementation within local communities.
Dhiraagu noted that employees participating in the initiative will gain opportunities to strengthen teamwork, leadership and project development skills while contributing to causes that matter to them personally.
The company, which is recognized as a Great Place to Work® certified organization, stated that creating meaningful opportunities for employee engagement remains a key priority. Through Pitch for Purpose, employees are expected to become more closely connected to the company’s broader goal of supporting sustainable development and community wellbeing.

Corporate social responsibility has become an increasingly important component of private sector engagement in the Maldives, with businesses playing a growing role in supporting environmental protection, youth empowerment, education and social welfare initiatives.
Dhiraagu said the new programme reflects its continued commitment to enriching lives, strengthening communities and encouraging employees to actively contribute towards building a more sustainable future for the Maldives.
With the launch of Pitch for Purpose, the company hopes to transform employee ideas into practical community projects capable of delivering lasting benefits across the country.
