Team Enzi has claimed the championship title at the latest Ooredoo Masrace, finishing well ahead of its closest competitors in the fishing tournament held in K. Maafushi.
A total of 14 teams took part in the competition, heading out to sea at 2:15 pm before returning to Maafushi at around 9:00 pm following several hours of fishing.
Team Enzi topped the standings with 923 points, securing first place and the tournament’s MVR 25,000 championship prize.
The STELCO men’s team finished second with 606.25 points, earning MVR 10,000, while Team Avian placed third with 597.75 points and received MVR 5,000.

The Maafushi event forms part of Ooredoo Maldives’ Masrace initiative, which combines competitive fishing with activities intended to celebrate the Maldives’ longstanding fishing traditions.
Ooredoo said the competition was introduced to help preserve and revive traditional fishing practices passed down through generations of Maldivians. The company has positioned Masrace as a fishermen’s festival that uses one of the country’s oldest livelihoods to bring communities together.
Fishing has historically played a central role in Maldivian society, providing livelihoods and shaping traditions across island communities long before tourism became the country’s dominant economic industry. Pole-and-line tuna fishing, in particular, remains closely associated with the Maldives and its fishing heritage.
Beyond determining the teams with the largest catches and highest scores, Ooredoo said Masrace is designed to encourage friendship, teamwork and unity among participants and communities.
The tournament has developed into a recurring community event since its introduction, drawing teams and spectators around the country. Regional editions of the competition accommodate up to 16 teams, allowing fishing teams from different communities and organisations to compete.
The Maafushi competition was previously announced as part of this year’s Masrace activities, with Ooredoo partnering with the Ministry of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources for the event.
With 923 points, Team Enzi ultimately finished more than 300 points ahead of second-placed STELCO to take home the Maafushi championship.
