State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has invited families to take part in the Engineers’ Day 2026 Children’s Evening, which is currently underway at Central Park in Hulhumalé.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, began at 4:00 pm today and will continue until 6:00 pm.
STELCO is participating in the event and has encouraged parents to bring their children to the park for an evening of activities aimed at making the Engineers’ Day celebrations engaging for younger audiences.
The Children’s Evening features games and family-oriented activities, providing children with an opportunity to enjoy the celebrations while being exposed to the wider theme of engineering.
The event forms part of activities marking Engineers’ Day 2026, which highlights the contribution engineers make to infrastructure, utilities and national development.
Engineering plays a particularly significant role in the Maldives, where the country’s dispersed geography requires extensive technical expertise to develop and maintain electricity networks, water and sewerage systems, harbours, roads and other essential infrastructure across the islands.
For STELCO, engineering is at the core of its electricity generation and distribution operations. The state-owned utility is responsible for electricity services in the Greater Malé region and several other islands, with engineers playing key roles in the operation and maintenance of power generation and distribution infrastructure.
STELCO’s participation also comes alongside other organisations taking part in the Children’s Evening, with activities designed to introduce younger generations to engineering in a more accessible and entertaining setting.
Families wishing to attend can visit Central Park in Hulhumalé before the event concludes at 6:00 pm today.
