Celebrate Longer: President Grants January 2, 2025 as a National Holiday

By Ahmed Ashraf Published December 16, 2024

In a announcement, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu declared Thursday, January 2, 2025, as a Government holiday. This decision was officially communicated by the President’s Office this evening.

The purpose of this declaration is to afford government employees a longer, uninterrupted break around the New Year celebrations. With January 1, 2025, already designated as a public holiday and falling on a Wednesday, the President’s decision to add Thursday as a holiday will enable employees to enjoy an extended period of rest.

This strategic move is anticipated to be well-received by employees, offering them an opportunity to rejuvenate before resuming their duties. The continuous break effectively creates a long weekend, enhancing the festive spirit and promoting work-life balance.
