Indian Specialists Collaborate with Maldives Police to Investigate Government Building Fire

By Ahmed Ashraf Published December 20, 2024

A team from India has arrived in the Maldives to collaborate with Maldives police on the ongoing investigation into a fire that affected three government ministries. The incident occurred on the morning of the 12th of this month at the M. Green Building, which is home to the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development, the Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure, and the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy.

In an announcement to media, the Maldives Police Service confirmed that a specialized team of Indian experts is now actively involved in probing the fire. Their expertise aims to aid local authorities in uncovering details surrounding the incident.

During a press briefing at Dharubaaruge last Saturday, Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau assured that a comprehensive investigation would be undertaken to ascertain the cause of the fire. He emphasized that transparency is crucial for public awareness regarding how such a significant fire could have occurred.
