Government Announces Official Working Hours for Ramadan

By Hussain Shinan Published February 18, 2025

The President’s Office has announced that government offices will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the holy month of Ramadan and the first seven days of Shawwal. The decision maintains the working hours implemented in 2022 to accommodate the fasting month.

In addition to the shortened work hours, the last ten days of Ramadan have been declared as public holidays for government employees. This adjustment allows civil servants to balance their professional responsibilities with religious observances during the most sacred period of the Islamic calendar.

Previously, government offices operated from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during Ramadan. However, on March 6, 2022, the hours were revised to 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to improve efficiency and provide employees with more time for worship and family commitments.

According to the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is expected to begin on March 1 this year, marking the start of a month-long period of fasting, prayer, and reflection observed by Muslims worldwide. The government’s continued implementation of these working hours aligns with efforts to support employees during this significant religious period.
