By Hussain Shinan Published March 10, 2025

In celebration of Commonwealth Day, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu shared a message emphasizing the power of unity and collaboration within the Commonwealth family. Reflecting on this year’s theme, “Together We Thrive,” the President highlighted the importance of collective strength in overcoming global challenges and promoting shared progress.

President Muizzu’s message underscored that unity is not just a concept for the Maldives, but a driving force behind the nation’s efforts to tackle issues like climate change, inequality, and conflict. He called on Commonwealth nations to work together in these challenging times to not only survive but to thrive.

“The Maldives values the ongoing advocacy and efforts of the Commonwealth in addressing critical issues affecting small states like ours, including climate resilience, access to finance, women’s empowerment, and youth development,” said the President. He reaffirmed the country’s commitment to the principles of democracy, human rights, good governance, and sustainable development, which are enshrined in the Commonwealth Charter.
