A Nation United in Celebration: President Muizzu Leads Eid Festivities with Heartfelt Public Engagement

By Ahmed Ashraf Published March 30, 2025

In a powerful display of national unity and cultural pride, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed warmly greeted citizens at the heart of the capital this morning, ushering in the joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr with the Maldivian people.

From 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the gates of Mulee’aage—the official presidential residence—were opened to the public, where the President and First Lady personally extended Eid greetings to hundreds of attendees. The event quickly became a vibrant gathering of unity, reflecting the Muizzu administration’s deep commitment to remaining closely connected with the people.

Among those present were Cabinet ministers, members of parliament, state ministers, high-ranking government officials, and foreign diplomats, all standing shoulder-to-shoulder with ordinary citizens and their families. The gathering was not only a celebration of Eid but a living embodiment of the Muizzu government’s vision of inclusivity and national togetherness.

Later this evening, President Muizzu and the First Lady are set to join the official Eid celebrations organized by the Maldives National Defence Force, to be held across several iconic locations in Malé, including Sultan Park, Republic Square, and the Islamic Centre grounds.

This marks yet another moment in President Muizzu’s growing legacy of people-first leadership—placing tradition, culture, and unity at the forefront of the nation’s progress. As the Maldives celebrates this sacred holiday, the President’s presence among the public sends a clear message: in the Muizzu era, leadership is not about distance, but about standing side by side with the people.
