President Muizzu Calls for Greater Inclusion and Support for Autistic Children

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has underscored the importance of embracing and supporting autistic children, emphasizing that every child plays a valuable role in shaping the nation’s future.

In a message shared on X to mark World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, 2025, President Muizzu highlighted the unique talents and contributions of autistic individuals. He urged society to recognize their potential and foster an inclusive environment built on love, care, and understanding.

The Ministry of Health also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting neurodiversity in the Maldives, stressing the need for equal opportunities and greater societal acceptance. In a statement posted on X, the Ministry emphasized that fostering inclusion is crucial to building a healthier and more equitable society.

This year’s World Autism Awareness Day is themed “Advancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” highlighting the urgency of creating inclusive education systems, expanding job opportunities for autistic individuals, ensuring equitable healthcare access, and raising public awareness.

The United Nations’ SDGs aim to leave no one behind, including neurodivergent individuals, making the global push for neurodiversity an essential step toward achieving these developmental goals.
